{"id":125,"date":"2024-01-11T17:38:38","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T17:38:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thescienceplayground.com\/PTOFiller\/?page_id=125"},"modified":"2024-01-11T17:38:38","modified_gmt":"2024-01-11T17:38:38","slug":"room-parent","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/thescienceplayground.com\/PTOFiller\/room-parent\/","title":{"rendered":"Room Parent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cambridgeportpto.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Blue-White-Simple-Festival-Event-Twitter-Header-6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"500\" \/>A fun \u2014 and invaluable! \u2014 way to get involved at Cambridgeport and to connect with fellow families is to volunteer to be a ROOM PARENT!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What does a Room Parent do?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>help the teacher find parent volunteers for classroom field trips or projects<\/li>\n<li>send updates from the principal or CPTO to classroom parents<\/li>\n<li>send updates about relevant events<\/li>\n<li>maintain the classroom phone\/email list<\/li>\n<li>in the upper grades, coordinate fundraising for graduation activities<\/li>\n<li>welcome any new parents to the classroom during the school year<\/li>\n<li>organize classroom events such as potlucks, bake sales or playground meetups<\/li>\n<li>reach out to parents about classroom needs throughout the school year \u2014 mainly supplies and snacks<\/li>\n<li>coordinate classroom teacher gifts around the holidays and end of year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Anything else I need to know?<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nThis job can be as big or small as you make it. At the minimum, being a room parent entails one email\u00a0 a month to connect with other families about classroom needs, events and volunteer opportunities. You serve as another voice for the classroom, another point of contact and provide a great way for families to connect with each other and their student&#8217;s class.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How do I become a Room Parent?<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nIdeally, at the beginning of each new school year, we need at least one Room Parents per classroom \u2014 it&#8217;s great to have two!
